What You See Is What You Get
First Things First (part 9)



I had heard about you before, but now I have seen you 
with my own eyes. Job 42:5 NLT





Jesus came near and started walking along beside them. But they did not know who he was.
Jesus asked them, “What were you talking about as you walked along?”
The two of them stood there looking sad and gloomy. Then ... Cleopas asked Jesus, “Are you the only person from Jerusalem who didn't know what was happening there these last few days?” ...


“Some of our companions went to the tomb ...but him they did not see.”

He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! ...” 

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.  	Luke 24:15-18  CEV 24:24-32 NIV



 * Be Careful What I Look To

Our Lord and our God, I turn my eyes to you, on your throne in heaven. Servants look to their master, but we will look to you, until you have mercy on us. 			 Psalm 123:1-2 CEV



 * Notice What Obscures My Sight

Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. ...Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light.	Matthew 6:22-23 NLT Msg

Jesus answered, “You’ve come looking for me not because you saw God in my actions but because I fed you, filled your stomachs—and for free.”	 John 6:26 Msg


Buy medicine for your eyes from me so you can really see. 	Revelation 3:18 Msg





 * See Beyond the Surface


Look at the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are. 	Matthew 6:26 NLT


By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can't see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse. 			Romans 1:18 Msg



 * Look Where I’m Going


You are looking forward to the joys of heaven--as you have been ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News. 	Colossians 1:5 NLT
